It's A Grind is a Long Beach original and it's waaaaay better than Starbucks (or as IAG calls them, the "evil green monster"). In fact, It's A Grind is pretty much the official coffee of my home church, Parkcrest. We brew It's A Grind coffee at our Unplugged venue and most of the staff choose it over the "evil green monster". And when I was a bit younger (just in my first year or two of college), it seemed like It's A Grind was the official employer of our church college group! (Yes, even I worked there...)
Let's put it this way: if you see me drinking something from another coffee house, it's because I've received a gift card from there -or- because there is no It's A Grind in the area.
I love It's A Grind!
P.S. - If you have premium cable and you watch the show "Weeds", you'll also notice that It's A Grind seems to be the official coffee house for the show... it has appeared in the opening credits and in certain episodes...

Show us your favorite literary character.
Elizabeth Bennet (shown here as portrayed by Jennifer Ehle in the 1995 BBC Miniseries... the one with Colin Firth that I highly reccommend) is definitely my favorite character from my favorite book (Pride and Prejudice) by my favorite author (Jane Austen). She is absolutely witty and doesn't take crap from people. She's truly a "take no prisoners" type of girl. She will not allow herself to settle for anything - especially not for a husband. She's determined to remain unmarried unless she is truly and deeply in love with the man.
And I think that deep down, every woman wants to be her.
Not bad for a fictional character, eh?
