"When we were children we were grateful to those who filled our stockings at Christmas time. Why are we not grateful to God for filling our stockings with legs?"
- G.K. Chesterton
This song isn't the best quality recording, but I had to post it today. It is a recording of my church's Christmas Eve service two years ago. One Parkcrest tradition is that O Holy Night be sung during Christmas Eve services by someone who is classically trained and can pull it off. So, every year, our Worship Arts director, Steve Dunham, sings O Holy Night. And since tody begins the two-day Christmas Eve festivities, I just had to post the song!
"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness - on them light has shined...For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His authority shall grow continually, and there shall be endless peace for the throne of David and his kingdom. He will establish and uphold it with justice and righteousness from this time onwards and for evermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this."
- Isaiah 9:2,6-7
"We ask, therefore, that we may be worthy of our power and responsibility, that we may exercise our strength with wisdom and restraint, and that we may achieve in our time and for all time the ancient vision of 'peace on earth, good will toward men.' That must always be our goal, and the righteousness of our cause must always underlie our strength."
- John F. Kennedy
