It makes me laugh that my last post here was over a year ago and yet my struggle remains the same.
I did make it to my 10%... and then gained it and more back over the course of the last year.
I am still fighting the same fight, still knee deep in what feels like a never-ending losing battle.
But I'm not giving up. Still pressing on.
One day, I will prevail.
As of last week's weigh in, I was 1.4 lbs away from my 10% with Weight Watchers.
I'm not really holding my breath for anything to happen this week. In fact, I'm bracing myself for a gain, because it's just been a really bad food week and I only worked out Saturday morning and Monday night... and on top of it all I'm dealing with the joy of my "favorite auntie" this week, so I'm bloated and have been on a what feels like a binge-fest all week long.
No matter what happens tonight, I will not let the scale rob me of my joy and excitement for how far I've come so far this year.
I think my goal for the year is to lose at least 60 lbs total in 2008... something totally doable in my mind. I'll have to set an end goal once I do actually reach my 10%
So to answer the question that the title of this blog asks... YES, I will make it to my 10%... it just might not be today. But that's okay. :)
I have my first real job interview in almost 8 years tomorrow. It is at an adult day outpatient clinic affiliated with an inpatient psychiatric hospital. I have not heard back from LA County DPH about my Main Street job offer so I'm hoping something will work out.
It's hard to keep up! Making it a part of your life on a consistent basis is really alot harder than it seems.
Saturday morning I did Turbo.
Sunday I didn't do anything.
Monday I waited until I was almost ready for bed to do 20 minutes of Turbo.
My goal is to make it to the gym this evening for water aerobics.
It's too easy to make excuses, to find other things to do.
I've got to work harder at scheduling it in and making it happen!
I can't believe it... I finally lost 25 lbs on the WW program. In the past I had given up by now. This is a HUGE milestone for me.
This is the view from the airplane as we were preparing to land in the airport at Iloilo.
Here is one of the primary purposes of our trip. As you can see, the convention was held at the Central Philippine University Gym in Iloilo.
Here is Pastor Brian, the organizer of the music for the convention, with JoJo. Brian ended up winning the guitar that Jerry donated.
Here is the stage on which the performances took place. It was huge. It was certainly much larger than any of the churches in which we would perform later.
Mangandang Umaga from the the Manila Bible Seminary. It is Thursday, May 1st. We are here for a Christ in Youth Conference. We will be performing and doing clinics. It is hot and muggy.
We had an amazing performance at Baclaran last night. The performance itself was not the amazing part; in fact, we could not hear ourselves for the most part. However, the audience of about fifty was very enthusiastic. I have never seen anything like it in my life. If we could get one-tenth of that enthusiasm in the States it would be amazing. They were so sad to see us leave. As usual, everyone wanted pictures with Marlyn and Casha. The young ladies at Baclaran were quite excited to find out that Kevin is single. There was a lot of giggling going on.
Most of us old guys got a reflexology massage from Sister Esther. She is the caretaker for the Baclaran Church of Christ, and she is a licensed reflexologist. I can’t wait for you all to see the video with Jerry getting a massage. I thought he was going to fall asleep. Big time MiMis. The people were so nice. They fed us and gave us dessert. Yummy. Mas Sarap.
The youth pastor, Jerry, was trying to teach me some more Tagalog. I didn’t retain much, but I appreciate the effort. Thanks to Marlyn, my Spanish is getting better though. Marlyn’s brother-in-law, Marco Acosta, passed away during this trip. She has been torn between staying and returning to the US to support and be consoled by her family. It is difficult to get a flight back as this is peak season and the flights are full. Please pray for Marlyn and here family in their time of bereavement.
It will soon be time to perform here at the CIY conference. My voice is shot from singing loud to try and hear myself last night. I am now a Basso Profundo. I pray the voice will come back. I bought a ton of Pei Pa Koa candies at the Chinese herb store at the mall. Kevin bought some grape seed extract. Bioflavinoids and Omega 6 and what not. Much cheaper than in the states.
Must get moving now. Looking forward to hearing and seeing some more amazing things. Paalam.
